How to Set Up Google Search Console for Your Wix Site
Google Search Console (GSC) is a powerful tool that helps you monitor and optimize your Wix site's presence in Google Search. Setting it up allows you to track search performance, index pages, and fix potential issues. Follow this step-by-step guide to connect Google Search Console to your Wix website.
Step 1: Sign in to Google Search Console
Go to Google Search Console (https://search.google.com/search-console).
Sign in with your Google account (preferably the one linked to your website’s Google services, like Google Analytics).
Step 2: Add Your Wix Site as a Property
Click “Start Now” if you're new to GSC, or select “Add Property” from the top-left menu.
Choose a verification method:
Domain (Recommended) – Requires access to your domain's DNS settings.
URL Prefix – Verifies a specific URL only.
Recommended: Use the Domain option for full-site coverage.
If using URL Prefix, enter your full website URL, including https:// (e.g., https://yourdomain.com).
Step 3: Verify Your Wix Site
There are multiple verification methods. Here’s how to verify your Wix site using the most common methods:
Method 1: DNS Verification (Recommended for Domain Property)
After selecting Domain as your property type, Google will provide a TXT record.
Copy the TXT record.
In a new tab, go to Wix Dashboard > Settings > Custom Domains.
Click Manage DNS Records.
Add a new TXT record:
Host Name: Leave it blank or enter @ (if required).
Value: Paste the TXT record from Google.
TTL: Use the default TTL (e.g., 1 hour).
Save the record and return to Google Search Console.
Click “Verify” (DNS changes may take a few minutes to propagate).
Method 2: HTML Tag Verification (For URL Prefix Only)
If using the URL Prefix method, choose HTML tag verification.
Copy the meta tag provided by Google.
Go to Wix Dashboard > Settings > Custom Code.
Click “+ Add Custom Code” and paste the HTML tag.
Choose “All Pages” and set it to appear in the Head section.
Click Apply and return to Google Search Console.
Click “Verify” to complete the process.
